From Kipwa:
The greek phrase 'zoe ek nekron' (in the horizontal sword above Mao, and
on other pages) means roughly "From out of death, life".
name=Kipawa Condor

5/8/00 - did some more digging on this - "zoe ek nekron", from Romans 11:15:
"For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?"
From keoen:
clue=Left down corner: Clavis is Latin for "key". The number game they play is
(quite obviously) adding numbers pairwise, reaching numbers below. You cut off
if it grows bigger than 10.

Example: 5+2 = 7, 2+6 = 8, etc. 7+8 = 15 -> 5, 8+8 = 16 -> 6.

The Greek phrase at number 2) has already its translation there: "For the
kingdom ... power". This reference also occurs in December 1998?

I could go on, but it does not seem to make much sense...

From Webmaster:

The "house of Baal" quote down the right side of the page is from 2 Kings chapter 10, and the contentsof the quote stretch from verse 24 through 27 -> http://www.css.tayloru.edu/~gbeeley/WWW_BIBLE/12.2-kings.010.html
24 And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him.

25 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

26 And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.

27 And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day. (while it says "draught house" here, I've seen other sources which clearly call it "latrine". Probably doesn't matter all that much though.

clue: "Istorya Vtoroi Russkoi Revolutsii" is translating phonetically the Cyrillic letters from the
Russian language. It is translated to English as "History of the Second Russian Revolution".

The "second" revolution is the more famous one, occuring in October 1917 (acutally November by the
Gregorian calendar... tsarist and post-tsarist Russia still used the Julian calendar right up until the
Revolution). This is the revolution referred to as "Red October".

The passage notes the difference of opinion between Stankevitch, a Social Democrat, and Lenin, a
Bolshevik/Marxist.

clue: In section 2, upper right:

Exodus 12:36 "And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent
unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians."

The New Model Army was the first "national" army that Cromwell commanded. It was distinguished by the
caliber of its soldiers and their discipline. From the web site of David Cody, Associate Professor of
English, Hartwick College:

"The New Model Army, one of several parliamentary armies which played an important role in the English
Civil Wars, came into existence after the dispersal of Waller's Army and the indecisive second battle
of Newbury. Organized by parliament early in 1645, and commanded initially by Sir Thomas Fairfax, it
was formed initially from existing armies, but composed solely with a view to military efficiency and
competency.

"It rapidly became an approximation of a national army, recruited nationally and not from any one
locality. Unlike the soldiers who formed almost all previous and contemporary armies, Cromwell's
soldiers, as the early Victorian historian Macaulay explains, were 'composed of persons superior in
station and education to the multitude. These persons, sober, moral, diligent, and accustomed to
reflect, had been induced to take up arms, not by the pressure of want, not by love of novelty and
license, not by the arts of the recruiting officer, but by religious and political zeal.' "

In the middle, right, Revelation 21:5: "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all
things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."

In context:
21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed
away; and there was no more sea.
21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a
bride adorned for her husband.
21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he
will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their
God.
21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither
sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write:
for these words are true and faithful.
21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end...

In the lower left, "Clavis." With all due respect to the estimable Keoen, another avenue to
investigate concerns a book called Clavis Mathematicae (1647 and later editions) written by the
theologian and mathematician William Oughtred. It is today primarily remembered for introducing a
number of symbols for mathematical operations, including the "x" for multiplication. Oughtred also
invented the first practical slide rule. I don't have access to the book, but if anyone does, it
might make deciphering the number
sequence easier.

The chemical formula is Cerubidine (Daunorubicin HCl). The complete fact sheet is located here:

 www.bedfordlabs.com/pdf/281-10.pdf

It is used in chemotherapy for certain forms of leukemia, particularly acute myelogenous leukemia in
adults. According to the fact sheet: "Clinical Studies: In the treatment of adult acute nonlymphocytic
leukemia, Cerubidine, used as a single agent, has produced complete remission rates of 40 to 50%, and
in combination with cytarabine, has produced complete remission rates of 53 to 65%."

Finally, does anybody have a clue what's up with the pool balls? They appear a number of times,
including April, 87, and the balls always seem to be arranged in the same order. I've seen the clue
15! = the number of ways the balls can be arranged inside the triangle, but somehow that just doesn't
seem to "fit" with everything else. As if anything "fits".

clue: Wow, there's a very clear structure here that bears mentioning, IMO. There are
four messages, one is definitely addressed to SR/CL, and signed with the happy face.
Two of the others seem to be attributed to Mao and Luther (and portraits of Mao Tse
Tung and Martin Luther make clear the intention). The fourth seems attrbiuted to a
speck, or a dot, or something? An enlargement or amplification might be helpful.
Also, the structure differs from other Mayday messages, in that each item isn't a pair
of references, but only one. The form of these messages is probably important, and I
doubt they can be sasfactorily interpreted without determining the context they fit
into. Are repeated phrases, like the Mao Chinese, and the Zoe ek Nekron with two
swords meaningful or chaff?

I've been unable to locate the origin of the problem, or the game it's from. White's key move is to move the rook

Reference to "The Pigs" here as elsewhere makes me think that it's referring to the government, FBI etc.

Probably just as insignificant - but "draught house" does actually mean "latrine". Jesus said that which goeth
into the mouth defileth not the man - - that which cometh out of the mouth defileth the man. That which goeth
into the mouth passeth through the belly and out as draught - or something like that.

early in the thread keoen detailed the 'number game' played on the ad and indicatd that it cuts off for numbers larger than
10. For what its worth, the pool balls do show at least some pattern in the fact that if you start with the center ball on each
rail and determine the numerical difference between it and an adjacent ball on the rail, the difference is noted in the corner
'behind' the pair. I.e. the diff between 9 and 11 is 2 (one corner) and the diff between 9 and 14 is 5 (other corner). The
pattern works for all rails except the bottom, where the diff between 15 and 3 is 12...not 2. But, once again, if we cut off after
10, the answer is, in fact, 2. Just like in the 'Clavis' number game.

Matt 06.27.2004
To Jessica: With all due respect, I wonder what kind of a chemist your friend was to compare that structure to an
amphetamine. The only similarity is an aromatic ring (though totally different) and an amine group. Several amino acids found in
all sorts of proteins share these two characteristics, too. Are those amphetamine like? Not at all.

A 10 second substructure search on ISIS gave this link:
http://chemfinder.cambridgesoft.com/result.asp?molid=20830-81-3&uPlugin=true

Clearly, this drug is nothing like an amphetamine. Amphetamine: alpha-methylphenethylamine. I'm not even going to try to copy over
the IUPAC name for this one...suffice it to say it's big and in no way resembles that. (A lot can be determined about similarities
by looking at the IUPAC name)

If someone posted something about the equation after 3) in the top left quadrant, I missed it.

I thought that this might have something to do with Euler's function for determining the number of relative primes, but it doesn't
seem like it.

A rather primitive--if amusing--idea did come to me about what it may mean, however. If you set the value of gamma to 1, as
allowed in the limit, then you'd be left with "erux" (or "eruxo"), which is very close to the Greek word for "burp" ("eructation"
is our English derivative).

I think I've seen "burp" somewhere else in the paraphernalia.

Perhaps the first two numbers specify a location (an eatery, perhaps), and the third signifies what happens after.

If the equation is obviously something else, I'd be interested in knowing what it is.

 Hi Bryan:
Some additions to this page - I just started to look and was intrigued by a letter from one of the orphanage about the
chess board.

The chess board is from a series of problems from Bobby Fisher called Mate in 1,2,3,4,5,and 9. So what does this mean. In 1988
Bobby Fisher patented a digital clock that adds 2 minutes/move. I think this has to do with adjusting the coordinates given on the
swords.

Also, the chemical formula for cerubidine was probably from the package insert from Wyeth-Ayerst who made the drug in 1988. First
isolated in early 60's. Bedford labs did not acquire until much later. It was approved on March 11, 1987. The formula was probably
taken from the package insert and not a chemistry book or the Merck Index that would show additional structure (chirality). The
drug was newly approved and it would appear that someone in the group may have been fighting leukemia.

I think that I figured out the large sphere with 62 nodes on a later page but I will get to that later.

Er is electrical permitivity, a constant used in electromagnetics/electrostatics. To maximize this equation one
would have to take the first derivative and set = 0, and that will give you at least a local maxima or minima.
Interestingly enough, this looks kinda like a characteristic equation from a differential equation, but the equation is
of order 1, or a straight line. The restriction of lambda from -infinity to 1 inclusive shows a maximum at 1, assuming
everything else is positive as well.
hope this helps. I have a horrible headache- hope I didn't screw up.

the greek, below Mao, is from a certain document called the Voynich Manuscript...

hance - I haven't 'read' the Voynich Manuscript in its entirety, but the chatacter sets don't look a thing alike. If you'd like to compare, you can do so. But I'm not sure I agree with you here.

Opaleg is wrong. The Greek below Mao is from the Bible as Cashton said. This is the last page of the manuscript:

Marcel B. 09.05.2005

Clumsy hebrew writing once more. This time, he's contrived to make a kof look like a kaf with a strange vertical stroke next
to it. Rashi's comment on this verse is:

"He is jealous to take vengeance; In Old French---emportement. His anger is glowing to punish those who worship idols."
Note the difference between "envy" and the often misused word "jealousy". They do NOT have the same meaning.

Ran 11.14.2005
The coordinates on the vertical sword are indeed Geneva, Switzerland, but I haven't seen those on the horizontal sword
mentioned here yet: Wittenberg, Germany. The sword seems to link "Life from death" to Martin Luther, although you'd probably
already guessed that.

The Chinese in these messages looks pretty odd, too. It looks like sloppy handwriting or like someone who doesn't know Chinese
copied the characters.

Juls 01.28.2006
Here's a thought that's been stewing away in the back of my head for yonks and I figured I might as well throw
it in here for consideration. See item 2, first quadrant - "By rust and corrosion etc." - looks like an oath right?
Maybe THE OATH ?? (or part of it perhaps) Certainly would tie in with their apparent agenda - "we shall by means of
inconsequence, stupidity, "missed chances" and all=around bungling, BRING DOWN THE PRESENT ORDER." (freaks email
184) - note the quote down the right border as well.

Might as well mention that I reckon that this announcement seems to have some particular importance - seems to act
like some kind of crux or key or something, and if you browse through the announcements it does strike you as being in
some way unlike the others. Maybe with the crossed swords in the centre it marks out a point of engagement.

further on #2, upper left quadrant - "by rust & corrosion etc etc" - looks like an oath but I see that it's
referred to as their modus operandi in the last part of the 10/20/00 multi-part email. Okay, the MO is to overturn
the present order by undermining it in anyway they can - that's been made obvious and stated outright often enough
now. To be replaced, it appears, by a new order based on scriptural teachings. Maybe I'd better write what I was
gonna put here somewhere where people are more likely to see it, or maybe just putting it all in an email would be
better...

D. Thomasson 03.31.2006
This announcement, as in all the announcements, refers to past martyrs of the Protestant
faith. The focus of the announcements is "Resurrection" (Life after death) or Renaissance
(Rebirth).

The horizontal sword in the middle of the announcement states "Zoa ek nekron" that has already been
translated in previous posts. It simply means life after death (Resurrection).

To more fully understand the message of the announcements, learn about eschatology (study of the
end times). Here is a clearer definition of eschatology:

1: a branch of theology concerned with the final events in the history of the world or of mankind.
2. a belief concerning death, the end of the world, or the ultimate destiny of mankind: specif: any
of various Christian doctrines concerning the Second Coming, the resurrection of the dead, or the
Last Judgement.
Read more about eschatology at: http://www.heraldmag.org/olb/co ntents/dictionaries/0EISBE.htm

Study about Resurrection, 12, 144, 144,000, and the New Jerusalem to get a handle on these announcements. You may also want to look at the symbolical books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church: http://www.borderschess.org/TrigBOC.pdf

The Tetragrammaton has been misvowelized *again*. This one appears to use the standard vowels, but it's missing the "oh"
vowel -- a dot above the vav (that's the single vertical line).

When one puts the "ah-oh-ah" vowels together, they form the vowels of the Hebrew "Adonai" that Jews pronounce when reading the
Name.

I really think that incorrect vowels are telling us something. Anyone copying from a Hebrew Bible would get it *right*.

Hello, I'm an actual chemist here. The chemical structure that appears above is daunorubicin hydrochloride.
Daunorubicin is an anthracycline type antineoplastic used in chemotherapy. Most commonly it is used to
combat the myeloid or lymphocytic forms of acute leukemia. Daunorubicin is fairly effective at slowing
or stopping the growth of cancer cells, and can be used to treat other forms of cancer at the oncologist's
discretion.

Interestingly daunorubicin hydrochloride is bright red in color.

I seem to remember someone suggesting that racking the balls in that order would be

Problem is, racking balls in that haphazard way is likely to get your a** thrown out on the

 Hi Bryan,
Are the faint scribblings on the hilt of the horizontal sword/knife yours or
were they part of the ad? If yours, it's interesting to see that they used a
clip of this image on the 2nd April 08 ad rather than their own clean version.

BDH (crossposted on April 2, 2008 as well) : They are indeed mine - I was an idiot and drew on the copy I made, and then wound up scanning it in. And it is indeed interesting to see that one get re-used with my writing on the April 2, 2008 page.

 This early communication:

http://www.maydaymystery.org/mayday/texts/friend21.html

Invites us to consider what else "be doin' dane" here. Number 3 in the top left
quadrant is an equation associated with Bohr (I suspect; I can't say for sure).
Bohr was a Dane. Bohr read Kierkegaard. Bohr was involved in nuclear weapons
research. Nuclear weapons are often thought of as 'paradigm'-changing. The
author of the page and the clue might be suggesting that the theological
speculations of, say, a contemporary Kierkegaard might also lend themselves to
some new 'paradigm'-changing advance.

I scare-quote 'paradigm' because of the Kuhnian valence, which is similar to but
not exactly what I think is intended here.

Add those?

tiresias 12/09/09
This clue was written in poor english, apologies in advance.

I'm posting here because I think nobody's tried to solve the "pool puzzle" using the
"key" from this ad, mentioned by keoen:

"The number game they play is (quite obviously) adding numbers pairwise, reaching
numbers below. You cut off if it grows bigger than 10."
If you have a set of three balls, the solution is obvious:

 3
1 2

The solution is unique if you disregard the symmetry.
Whith 6 numbers, it's easy:

  1
 5 6
3 2 4

Note that, if you were not allowed to cut off after 10, there would be
no possible solution. Again, this is unique, disregarding symmetry.
With 10 numbers, it becomes easy when you realize that the top ball
must be 10:

  10
 2 8
 7 5 3
6 1 4 9

  10
 2 8
 7 5 3
1 6 9 4

  10
 4 6
 9 5 1
7 2 3 8

  10
 4 6
 9 5 1
2 7 8 3

Again, it is necessary to cut off numbers bigger than 10 to reach a solution.
But, with 15 numbers, the complexity grows. So I wrote a quick and dirty
script to do the job. The result:

    15
  11 14
 1 10 4
 9 2 8 6
12 7 5 3 13

    15
  11 14
 1 10 4
 9 2 8 6
12 7 5 13 3

I don't know whether the script has generated the correct result or not. I would not bet money on it.
I was a bit disappointed because, for example, 9 + 2 = 11 and you cut off then to produce 1, but,
10 + 1 = 11 and you do nothing. However, I think there is no solution when the numbers 1 and 2 lie
within the bottom row, but I may be wrong. Maybe, some geek out there can figure this out.

I don't know (also) what all this has to do with the mystery or if it means anything at all.
But, it was an interesting puzzle. Thanks, Orphanage.

Finally, I did realize that the "key" has 6 rows and 21 numbers, but I don't want to burn my CPU out.
If someone can manage to solve this puzzle using 21 numbers, I will be glad to see the result.

Also:
The chess problem is "the Immortal Problem" by Conrad Bayer, 1855.
The key move is Rb7 (roof to b7).
You can find the solution here:

Look for problem number 15.

Comments: Bonjour au sujet de l’énigme du triangle numérique de Clavis.

Voici ma conclusion.

Prenez votre date de naissance (jj/mm/aa)

Ex : 15/08/59

Séparer les d’une case;
1 5 0 8 5 9

Mode de calcul très simple

1+5=6
5+0=5
0+8=8
8+5=13=3
5+9=14=4

(french!)

2) 490 L’Enfant Plaza...

[ref: http://www.allbusiness.com/finance/115248-1.html]
Comptroller of the Currency
490 L'Enfant Plaza E., S. W., 20219, (202) 447-1810.
The Comptroller's office is a bureau of the Treasury Department (see separate entry). It
is designed to safeguard bank operations and the public through regulation of national banks.

This clue would seem to announce that two members of the Orphanage (aliases of [Philipp]
Melanchthon and Matthias Flacius; both important Lutheran Reformers) were able to break
some form of computer based encryption used by the Treasury Department, in 1988.

I interpret this to mean the funds can now flow, from some member bank of the FED to the
Orphanage or something it controls.

Horizontal sword lat/long = Wittenberg, Germany. Significant,
as it's the city most associated with Martin Luther.

Vertical sword lat/long = Geneva, Switzerland. Significant,
as it's the birthplace of Calvinism.

The Kierkegaard quote is about accepting god.

The quote is a reference to the aphostel Jacob, who spoke of people who needed to refine their belief, or who had to become closer to god.

This is based on a 10min google search. and being an Atheist I've chosen to throw away all the biblical misinformation my
Catholic school taught me - so it might be totally worthless information.

I hope you solve this soon, it's very fvcking intruiging and interesting.

Comments: In the 1998 message point 2 under the Luther portrait strikes me as odd. They claim that the encryption was cracked and that L’Enfant Plaza East has been “penetrated”. Was this the first “target” for whatever it is these messages pertain to. If so what is the reasoning behind the address and the cryptic clues around it in previous messages. Does the rest of point 2 refer to in infiltration or a theft of some sort.

I think it's worth noting that according to Jan 20, 1988 that this is the 'final scheduled transmission, this series'.

(May 1st, 1988) The Greek "οὐ γὰρ ἐν λόγῳ ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἀλλ᾿ἐν δυνάμει" is a bible verse (A’ Corinthians 4 , 20), and
translates to "God's Kingdom lies not in words, but in power", which pretty much means that it is not revealed by words whether
one participates or not in the divine and eternal life but by the spiritual power, and whether or not we have this power is
shown by our lives, our actions.

I'm going to try to read through the rest of the pages and translate the Greek, because I saw some REALLY inaccurate translations.

HRS is exactly right that th equation to maximize is linear in Lambda. This means it cannot have a meaningful maximum apart from the constraint, linear functions just go to infinities in both directions. If this function has a well-defined maximum under that constraint, it has to be at Lambda = 1. If that's a maximum that means the slope is positive. A little factoring gives the slope as Er*u*(Xsi_0-R), which we've found must be positive.

Er might be permittivity or an electric field amplitude. Both of those would be positive.
R might be a radius, or a length in 3D space. Either way, it would be positive.
If you buy that, that means u and Xsi_0, whatever they are, have the same sign.
Whatever the case, an even number of them are negative: 0, 2, or 4.

Assuming it is physical and looking at the units, terms in a sum must have the same units. This means Lambda cannot have any units because we have R -LR. So Xsi_0 and R must have the same units, probably length. Maybe Xsi_0 is the healing length and this is a Bose-Einstein condensate thing?

That's all I've got for now.
